I am not sure why it is happening so. Could this be related to path configurations? Or maybe some permission restrictions? I am not sure.

Nonetheless, good to know that your problem is resolved and your custom board project works.

unfortunate, when my project create in "E:\gitee\m4_2023062634\boards\arm\m2" can not work. but create in "D:\gitee\m4_2023062634\boards\arm\m2" can work. why?

Thank you for contacting DevZone at NordicSemi.

I don't see any issues with your files, but with the folder / workspace structure and/or possibly with the toolchain.

Can you do the following steps and let me know if it helps:

1) Using VS Code, in NCS 2.3.0, create a new hello_world project and name it as m2_hello

you also know the location of your project (in my case it is c:/ncs/mywork/m2_hello/)

2) Compile this project for default board to make sure that everything (including the toolchain) is correct.

3) create /boards/arm/m2 folder in your project folder and place these 6 files

4) Now compile the project for your custom board

It compiled successfully without any issue

how to understand this error:

D:/ncs_v2.4.0/zephyr/scripts/kconfig/kconfig.py: Kconfig.zephyr:23: '/gitee/m4_2023062634/boards/arm/m2/Kconfig.defconfig' not found (in 'source "$(BOARD_DIR)/Kconfig.defconfig"'). Check that environment variables are set correctly (e.g. $srctree, which is set to 'D:/ncs_v2.4.0/zephyr'). Also note that unset environment variables expand to the empty string.
