The serial number is the last digits of the very much larger ID. Neither are restricted to starting, containing or ending with specific digits.

Yes, its possible that not all IDs start with C and that not all serial numbers start with E, so if your firmware depends on reading values starting with C or E, it makes sense that your application doesn't run as intended.

I think I have found where the issue may be... can you confirm whether there have been any changes to what defines a PPK2 ID versus serial number? There is an ID starting with C attached to each PPK2 as well as their serial number starting with E. Is there a connection between these two or could there have been a change where one of these is no longer used etc etc

We haven't had any other reports of this, and there was no firmware changes that made changes to the USB for v1.1.0 of PPK2. Can you upload what exact error messages that are reported. We would also like to see the source code if that's possible. You can upload that in your private ticket if you don't want to share it publicly. Alternatively, is it possible to reproduce with the vanilla IRNAS?

For sure! It does work as intended with the application as far as I can tell. I've been able to program it, run the TP34 test and also manually set the voltage, current etc using the left sidebar.

Have there been any changes to the firmware/software that could be causing this issue? Would flashing a previous version of software change anything?

Can you start out by checking if the v1.1.0 of the PPK2 works as intended with the Power Profiler application? I'm sorry, but it will be hard to find out what's causing this without an error log or something telling what the errors returned is. I don't have v1.1.0 of the PPK2 available at the moment to test on my end I'm afraid.

Yes I am referring the hardware version here.

The project I am working on uses custom code written with the ppk2 python api and requires the ppk2 to be programmed using the desktop app first. The device programs using the app fine and I've used the TP34 method to reprogram the device and haven't had any luck in getting it to work with the same code that works with the 1.0.1 version.

The errors I am getting are mainly focused around ports not being open.

You refer to the HW version of the PPK2, correct? And it fails when trying to use the Power Profiler app in nRF Connect for Desktop, right? Or is this some custom project you're trying to run on the PPK2? Can you share some details as to what errors you're seeing when trying to use PPK2 v1.1.0? If using the Power Profiler app, please enable verbose logging and upload the log file here so we can get a better look.

You can also try doing these steps to recover your PPK2 to see if that helps:

Disconnect all other nordic devices from the computer, turn off the kit and remove it from the plastic by removing the four screws. Insert USB to J2 (USB DATA/POWER). Short a connection between GND (e.g on the four pin power output header) to TP34 on the PPK2. While holding the jumper cable, turn the kit on and remove the jumper. Now the PPK2 should be in bootloader again.

Open the PPK app, and select the device which is now just a serial number.

When selecting it, the user will be prompted to program the application
