In any case, I have followed a number of examples and came across this link also:

&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;Thanks very much for the insight.&amp;nbsp; I went down a bit of a rabbit hole on this and it let me to concluding the greyed out aspects were a problem.&amp;nbsp; I have sorted out the proper working devices now.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This is a visual error in vscode, where it is not able to pick-up and expand the defines properly, unfortunately.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Your setup is similar to these samples:&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://github.com/zephyrproject-rtos/hal_nordic/tree/master/nrfx/samples/src/nrfx_spim"&gt;https://github.com/zephyrproject-rtos/hal_nordic/tree/master/nrfx/samples/src/nrfx_spim&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As long as you are able to compile and use your selected SPIM instances, it should be alright.&lt;/p&gt;
