Thanks for advice - and I have now rectified this problem and can see the terminal connected to COM4.

No Hello World doesn't, although the Build and Flash process shows output on terminal. I can see board as Com4 in device manager, so wondering I need to configure terminal to that somehow. I'm very new to using VS and nRF connect so at a loss to find myself around it.

Does the hello_world sample give any serial output?

If it still does not work, can you try other serial terminals, like putty/teraterm/realterm or similar?

Thank you. I have now loaded the blinky example code, but I'm not getting any output in the terminal window.Should be some Printk s. Do I need to configure this somehow

Hi,

Could it be that you've changed the debugger firmware from J-Link to Mbed?

This is how you recover a board with a non-nRF SEGGER debugger IC:

1. Power off the board

2. Hold down the IF RESET/BOOT button

3. Power on the board, and see that LD5 blinks with a interval of 1 second.

4. A "BOOTLOADER" drive should appear on your computer.

5. Download the jlink binary file from here: https://nsscprodmedia.blob.core.windows.net/prod/software-and-other-downloads/dev-kits/nrf5x-dk-files/j-link-ob-sam3u128-v2-nordicsemi-170724.bin (linked from the nRF52-DK page on our main website)

6. Drag and drop this .bin file to the "BOOTLOADER" drive, wait 30 seconds and power cycle your DK.

UPDATE: I've managed to know get the PC to 'see' it and have a flashing light - LED5 - when I hold RESET down and plug into power. (After trying every combination of switch). I assume this is now in Bootloader mode - but still not visible to the VS IDE.
Do I need to load something on here to get it back into a fit state to use?
