It should be installed, if all the steps are being followed.. I have reported this iternally to the VSC team as well and will get back to yo with the updates. In the meantime, could you make sure that you have not missed out on any of the steps here:https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/latest/nrf/installation/assistant.html#installing-automatically and update.?

Could you try uninstalling VS code and downloading VS code directly from their website and see if it works.?
