I hope you have installed the SDK and other tools properly. Have you tried building any other sample from the SDK and get it working, if not I recommend you to follow<a title="https://academy.nordicsemi.com/topic/exercise-1-1/" href="https://academy.nordicsemi.com/topic/exercise-1-1/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"> this tutorial</a> for basic installation. I assume you are working with NCS v2.4.0.
