Solved:

Fixed it by switching to the latest version of the connect sdk/toolchain (2.4.0).

I don't know what exactly happens. The thingy53 suddenly loses connection to the mesh. Turning the thingy off and on again using the hardware switch on the board doesn't help. It won't reboot, neither will it join the mesh network again. The serial port is also not available anymore.

I am only able to recover the device (thingy) when i run "nrfjprog --eraseall" while being connected via jtag trough the dev kit.

Hard to say what is causing the problem here as there is no error logs.

What do you mean by "shuts down"?

I can try to set up the example and see if I can reproduce, but it might be difficult if it doesn't fail for 6-8 hours.

Additional info:

I modified the code. Instead of pulling the data from the sensor server every 10 seconds, I switched to pushing the data from the sensor server (thingy53) to the client (nRF52840DK) each 10 seconds. Unfortunately I got the same result after 6.5 hours. The sensor server (thingy53) went down and is never recognized anymore. Same thing - I have to reset it via jtag running "nrfjprog --eraseall"
