The problem has been solved.

I forgot to mention an important thing: I had not used an external 32 kHz crystal and had misconfigured the internal oscillator.

Then there could be something wrong with the wiring, soldering or dts for instance.

Then I guess it also boots and provides logs?

Have you tried a peripheral example to see if you can connect to it using your phone?

It is now seems that VSCODE identifies the chip:

and even flashing runs without errors.

However simple programs such as blinky doesn't seem to work.

How can I be sure that I am not having problems with the software and definitions?

Or maybe it is a soldering issue?

It might be that it has issues reading the UICR of the custom PCB, maybe due to issues with the connection. You could try flashing it and see if it works?

I connected the boards as follows:

I followed the suggestion from Øyvind from the following post: nrf Connect no devices found in vs code - Nordic Q&A - Nordic DevZone - Nordic DevZone (nordicsemi.com)

After I change the setting from "nrfutil" to "nrfjprog":

It seems that there is a connected device:

I haven't tried yet to program the custom board, but is it OK that the device is marked as "UNKNOWN"?

Or maybe I am missing something?

Hello,

I assume something isn't connected correctly, or there is something wrong with the Debugger on the DK.

Are you getting the debugger to show up in VSC when the external module isn't connected?

Could you show me how you've connected the module to the DK?

How are you powering the module and DK?
