Following up - our decoupling cap placement was incorrect. We had a 1uF cap on DEC6 (E24 whereas it should have been DEC4 (B5). Moving it resolved the RTT/BLE connection issues.

Yes it is. Note: I have an open (private) ticket for this issue. It's 100% replicable on my custom board with my application or sample BLE applications, but 0% reproducible on a development board.

I am observing a similar issue. My device/board/design works perfectly fine until I "Connect" via the J-Link RTT Viewer. As soon as I do, my BLE connection drops (same reason: 8). Disconnecting the viewer, and my devices connect again perfectly. Something about being connected with the Viewer is hosing things up.

Hi,

BLE Timeout error can happen for various reasons such as inadequate values of connectivity parameters or physical distance between devices.

Hi,

ok I will try to use the nRF Sniffer. But, I have found out that my BLE device connection is disconnecting because of reason 8(BLE Timeout). Is there any way to bypass that?

Hi,

To observe Bluetooth traffic and debug the issue further, you could use nRF Sniffer for Bluetooth LE.

hey,

thank you for your answer. But, I already have this lines in my prj.conf file.

the problem with RTT is this: When I connect to the RTT Viewer, there is no scanning. My device does not appear in the nrf Connect APP.

When I disconnect again with the RTT Viewer, my device appears in the nrf Connect app and I can connect to my custom board. Now when I reconnect to the RTT vIewer, the BLE connection is broken. The error message BLE timeoutr appears.

It seems to me that I can not connect to the RTT Viewer and via BLE at the same time. With the DEV kits this works without problems and I can connect at the same time with the DEV kits. But not with my custom board. What could be the reason?

And I use ncs 2.4.0

Hi,

I have tested your project in NCS v2.4.0. You should be able to see RTT output if you add the following lines to your prj.conf file:

CONFIG_USE_SEGGER_RTT=y
CONFIG_RTT_CONSOLE=y
CONFIG_UART_CONSOLE=n
