thanks for checking Sigurd, must be on my side. The .hex file works. If I build the zip with SDK17.1. The unit starts advertising but I don't see it on my laptop or android phone. I do see it on IOS but cant connect to it.

It works fine here. I was able to connect to the dongle with my phone. And when I plugged the dongle out, and in again to the USB port, my phone connected to the dongle again without any issues. Here is my compiled version of the hex (no changes to the project):

Yes I would agree with you Sigurd. But the project in the zip file does not work unless you change it.

if you compile the project files as is, the HID keyboard is not detected for some reason

This was discussed later in the post, so the hex file likely don't have that.

This makes sense when you have "advertising_start(true)" , on every reset the bonding data is then erased. So you have to remove the bond on the on the other device as well, and re-bond.

As per the original post I changed advertising_start(erase_bonds) to advertising_start(true). If you dont do this the sample does not work.

No the hex file and project file did not behave the same that's why I wondered what the difference could be.

Vidar also uploaded the project files he used, in " 2768.ble_app_hids_keyboard.zip" ,

maybe you could test with that?
