We are looking to add a second source for the SPI flash device on our board. Can we add support for multiple jedec,spi-nor flash devices on the same spi port (spi2) in our project?
Thanks,

If you want to have two spi nodes on the same spi controller then you need to define spi nodes in the dts using overlay. Both spi nodes will have their own CS pin, that is how only one of the spi node device is enabled while rest of the pins (CLK, MOSI, MISO) are shared.

If you plan to have only one spi device, then you can update the JEDEC ID and other information in the overlay.

RE: Can we specify more than one jedec,spi-nor flash device on the same spi port in the DTS file?

We want to support more than one manufacturer of SPI flash in hardware. This is to be ready if we can't buy one SPI flash device because of shortages but another is available from a different manufacturer. The interface is the same to these different flash devices. They differ only is JEDEC ID and possibly size.

In this case all of these supported SPI flash devices would share the same CS pin.

Is it possible to do this in the device overlay?

Yes, you can do that by adding appropriate entry in the device overlay.

Please note that each device (on the same spi controller) should have its own CS pin.
