It took me 2-3 days to learn that, I was on a similar boat and trying to find and fix, if something was broken.

Wow. I was pulling my hair out on this, trying to figure out what I did to lose the welcome screen.

@Nordic,

Such sweeping changes to the plug-in, build process, toosl, and GUI should have been well communicated or made through a major version change.

The upgrade to 2023.9.169 (for me) also created the permanent "Build Configuration is stale. Perform Pristine Build" on all my projects, and even in new projects.

For a test I reverted back to the previous version of NRF Connect for VSCODE (July Release), and the pristine build problem went away.

Alright, they have changed the view for latest release. nRF Connect - nRF Connect for VS Code , starting this month's release.
