I'm afraid the nRF52805 won't be a suitable device for a central hub (of any kind really), as it has a very restricted amount of RAM and Flash memory. It is not designed to be a central in the first place, and as a home automation system I think you won't fit all the code necessary + the BLE stack on it I'm afraid. I would strongly recommend moving to the nRF52840, which is large enough to handle a higher number of connections. Also, the nRF52840 supports the Matter protocol samples in our SDK which is designed for home automation applications, so that might be worth checking out.

For the number of peripheral devices an nRF52840 supports, it will depend somewhat on the application size, but it's safe to assume you'll fit at least 20 connections I believe (likely more) in a BLE central sample.
