Following are the modules I used in my first project using nrf52840 chip.
1. nRF52840 SoC - Breakout board from WaveShare
2. One 4 Channel Relay Module
3. 2-Way wall switch (set of 3 switches and sockets)
4. 12V DC DC converter to

RE: nrf52840 disconnecting frequently while operating.

Hello,

Based on the description of the problem I get the impression the problem is related to some electrical issue (e.g. ESD, EOS or EMC problem). Have you done measurements using an analog oscilloscope to check what occurs on the pins connected to the switch or vdd when you connect/use the switch? Maybe you need to look at some filtering or coupling on the pins in the question.

Everything works fine if I use ESP32 instead of nRF52840.

Also, I believe relay function is not working. Checked configs and relay is enabled, still I don't see it working. Even in nRF Mesh app (Android) Relay shows disabled.

Even a basic HC05 module works without any issues.

RE: nrf52840 disconnecting frequently while operating.

Hi, the device is loosing the connection.
Is the device losing the connection but still running, or is it resetting?
Do you have any logs from the device?
Only doubt I have is that both nRF modules have the same name (Mesh Light). Will that be a problem...!
No, this should not be a problem. The devices on a mesh network have unique unicast addresses, which are used for the communication. The name of the device should not matter.

Infact I am using nRF Connect SDK v 2.3.0

Below is the physical connection image. There are two sets of this.

I am using nRF Mesh Android app. It identifies both BLE modules (named as Mesh Light). if the relay is not connected any load using a 2 way electrical switch, everything works fine. But If I connect any load using 2 way electrical switch, nRF modules will disconnect frequently. I have to re-connect again and after some time it disconnects again.

Also, I found that controlling the realy connected to 2nd nRF module from 1st one is not stable. Distance between two nRF modules is hardly 15 feet which should not be a concern. Only doubt I have is that both nRF modules have the same name (Mesh Light). Will that be a problem...!

RE: nrf52840 disconnecting frequently while operating.

Hi,

I see the ticket is tagged with "Evaluation" and "nRF5 SDK BT Mesh". If you are in the evaluation stage, you should use nRF Connect SDK, and not the older nRF5 SDK. See our nRF Connect SDK and nRF5 SDK statement for details.

Assuming you are in fact using nRF Connect SDK, there are some missing details in the description of your setup. Can you please explain how everything is connected together, including:

All physical connections

All wireless connections

List all mesh nodes in the network

The configuration of all mesh nodes in the network
