Oh, I understand, thank you for clarifying.
In this step you should specify the location that you would like your new application to be placed, for instance C:/ncs/myapps/rtc.
Please try this, and see if there's any problem when doing so.
Alternatively you could also click on the small folder in the top right of the box, to browse locations.

I see how this is not very intuitive from the text, and I will report this to the extension developers as an improvement.

Yes, here are the 3 stages of creating a new application from a sample, which failed in the older VSC and the current VSC.

Actually, to make sure that I have understood you correcetly, could you share a screenshot of the 'create a new application' screen with the error/issue you are seeing? Just to ensure that I have understood your issue correctly.

Thank you for the report, I will bring this to the developers of the VSC extension.

In the meantime, could you downgrade your NCS VSC Extension version to avoid the issue?

I installed SDK 2.4.2 and it also made no difference. Additionally I've found that creating new projects in directory paths that have a space in a directory name also doesn't work. This was reported 3 years ago it seems, and was never fixed. The directory I'm using in this case though has no spaces.

Hi, I have just updated to the latest version (4.2.0) using the update option in nrfConnect for desktop. The SDK version I'm using is 2.4.1 - I don't wish to update to 2.4.2 in case it breaks something else. The error remains the same when I follow the steps above.

Hello,

Which version of the nRF Connect Visual Studio Code extension did you use when this occured?
Could you please try this again after having updated to the bugfix release that was released today, and see if the problem persists?
