We use several PPK2s to check for expected current consumption during factory line testing. Recently, 2 of the PPKs have begun reporting an extremely unusual gain value. To resolve this we have tried reflashing the firmware by shorting GND

RE: PPK2 modifiers report abnormal gain for GI3

Hi there,

I see, I can't say that I can pinpoint exactly which of these commands that might have caused the overwriting of flash, but I pretty sure that it shouldn't be possible to do it if the PPK2 is used with the recommended SW(nRF Connect Power Profiler)

We don't have a official fix to restore the calibration data at the moment unfortunately.

regards

No, not exactly. Because we need an automated setup we're interfacing directly with the serial ports of the PPKs. We adapted the protocol from the Power Profiler app source code. We only send the following sequence of commands so I am not sure how the values could have been modified.

- SetPowerMode (0x11) with argument 2 for source mode

- RegulatorSet (0x0d) with VDD argument split bytewise like in the Power Profiler app. We are always using the same voltage, 3000 mV.

- GetMetadata (0x19)

- Here we read lines from serial until one contains END, then parse the values

- AverageStart (0x06)

- DeviceRunningSet (0x0c) with argument 1 to enable power

- Here we start collecting serial data to do the ADC conversions & etc

- DeviceRunningSet (0x0c) with argument 0 to disable power

- AverageStop (0x07)

Just to be clear, you have only used the PPK2 with nRF Connect Power Profiler app right? I'm just trying to figure out how the calibration values were re-written, it's clear that G13 is way off,

Our manufacturing partners got back to us with the label info from the affected units. Thanks for your patience. For reference, the units that are not impacted are also all build 1.0.1 with various "YEAR"."NUMBER" codes.

I am guessing this information can be found on the small square label on the PCB? If so, I have requested our manufacturing partners to take pictures of this label for me -- I do not have physical access to the problem units unfortunately.
