I got my Macbook Pro M4 on Friday, so tried it from home network without any VPN installed yet. But if you think others have seen this aswell, then I can query this internally and come back to you with more information if anyone else have seen this before.

Hi Susheel Nuguru ,

I tried a number of methods over 3 different days all with extremely slow results, and based on the number of forum posts and similar issues other people are experiencing this is not isolated to me.

Are you possibly on a nordic VPN and/or connected within their network - thus not experiencing this issue?

I am using an Macbook Pro - M3 chip.
I finally managed to get it to work with the following (took ~9hrs to download): `caffeinate -di nrfutil --log-level=debug sdk-manager install v3.1.1`. (caffeinate to ensure no sleeping and retries).

All other website speeds for everything else was super quick and speed tests showed >200Mbps (both speed test sites and the built in speed management in the Uniquity Dream Machine).

I even tried other sdk versions (and from different locations and networks: friends house, my phone, ect) and none were fast hinting to an upload speed issue from Nordic file server side.
Even ChatGpt said this is a known issue for many users and is slow (see one screenshot of many)

Please can the nordic team investigate on their side in terms of the server's upload speed.

Hi Tristan,

I downloaded v3.1.1 yesterday from home network using VSC and it downloaded SDK and toolchain within 10 minutes. Can you please give me more details on your work station OS version and VSC version? I did not hear any speed issues in downloading it yet, unless the server for this was slow exactly at the time of your download.

I'm currently trying to download v3.1.1 SDK and has also taken well over three hours (Via Visual Studio Code).
I tried to manually download the SDK from the website and cancelled after 2hrs when it had only downloaded 53Mb...

Definitely something up with the upload speed (connection or throttling) from the file server hosting the SDK's based on everyone's messages and from googling to see many other people having these issues.

Hi, I did not hear this speed issue before with v2.9.1, so suspecting something might be related to your work setup or firewall on your system/company.

Having the same problem downloading v2.9.1. Download has taken almost 3 hours to complete, and in the end didn't actually work. Download is extremely slow.

Tried again though the Toolchain Manager v1.5.3 app and I get the following error once it reaches ~80% after 2 hours:

Error: Failed with exit code 1. Failed to download toolchain bundle

Caused by: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. (os error 10054).

Currently struggling to get v2.5 toolchain downloaded using VSCode. v2.5 SDK downloads in a reasonable time.

Yesterday, failed download due to 8 hours needed to finish download and finally show error message,

But I could download successfully only take below 30min to finish download both from VS Code and toolchain manager.

It means after pressing "Install" button in the Toolchain Manager to download nRF Connect SDK. The status that shows "Downloading toolchain x%" is taking time.

Yes, I downgraded to v1.2.5 to try everything. At first, I tried with v1.2.6.

Now I'm trying to download v2.5.0-rc2 for a test. It seems pretty fast. It passed 5 minutes only but already completed 35%.

Were you saying that downloading the SDK took too long? Or downloading the toolchain manager itself?

I see that you have Toolchain Manager v1.2.6 in the first screenshot you posted. Are you saying that you downgraded to v1.2.5 to install the SDK?

Thanks for reporting back! That doesn't sound good, I'll ask again if there's anything the developers can do.

If you were to cancel your ongoing SDK download or it fails, would you mind trying the download tool included in our VS Code extension? It recently gained the ability to install SDK and toolchain versions.

Let me know if there is anything more we can do.

I tried several times and finally, I got SDK v2.4.2 with Toolchain Manager v1.2.5 few hours ago. It took 11 hours to download.
Now I am trying to download SDK v2.5.0-rc1, but it seems very slow.

Thanks for reporting! I asked the developers whether they were aware of any ongoing issue. They weren't.

I tried to download a new SDK revision to replicate this, but in my case it worked fine.

I wonder if perhaps there was just some temporary downtime that wasn't caught.

Are you both still struggling to download the SDK? Or have you been able to succeed in the mean time?
