I want to update firmware with nRFConnect android app, it only sometimes works, most time it fails re-connecting when device is advertising 'DfuTarg'
I am using sdk12.3.0, s130_nrf51_2.0.1_softdevice, project is based on example project

RE: DFU failed while using nRFConnect android app to update my device.

Hi Bob,

Could you try to test on other phone ? Could you let us know the NRF Connect version ?
We do the adv address change to +1 to avoid that the phone would have bonded with the device and will try to re-encrypt the link with the bootloader.
The app supposed to automatically scan and connect to the +1 address. So I'm not sure why it's failed.
If you want you can remove the feature to +1 the address in the gap_address_change() function in nrf_ble_dfu.c file.

RE: DFU failed while using nRFConnect android app to update my device.

It is the same error (connection timeout) when dfu-flashing softdevice by nRFConnect.

But I found it is advertising with name 'DfuTarg' and MAC address increased by 1, and the log message tells that nRFConnect app is trying to connect the same address. So connection timeout. I connect 'DfuTarg' and DFU again, it succeed. Bootloader+Softdevice+Application all are flashed.

It is very strange that in the past days we can DFU well, but now always connection timeout.

RE: DFU failed while using nRFConnect android app to update my device.

Hi Bob,

Could you try to do the test by only flash

Softdevice + unmodified Bootloader

And then you do DFU update. Would it work ?

If it doesn't work, please try to capture a sniffer trace.
What I'm seeing in the log is "Connection timeout" error. Have you tried to test on a NRF5 devkit ?
