Hi,
Based on the GenericOnOff light switch example, what is the advertising interval of a provisioned proxy node? Where do you set this interval?
And, once a node is connected as a proxy, it looks like it continues to

RE: Mesh proxy advertising interval

In the context of Bluetooth Mesh, the advertising interval for a provisioned proxy node is typically set during the configuration and provisioning process. The advertising parameters, including the advertising interval, are part of the provisioning and configuration parameters defined during the initial setup of the node. However, the specific implementation details may depend on the Bluetooth Mesh stack and the example application you are using.

In the GenericOnOff light switch example, and generally in Bluetooth Mesh applications, the advertising interval can be configured in the provisioning and configuration parameters. These parameters are usually set in the device initialization or configuration function.

Regarding your second question, once a node is connected as a proxy in a Bluetooth Mesh network, it may continue to advertise periodically for various purposes. This advertising is typically done at a slower rate compared to the unprovisioned advertising state. The connected node may advertise to maintain network presence, update information, or facilitate certain mesh features.

The content of the advertisements during the connected state may include information relevant to the mesh networking, such as the node's presence in the network, information about the supported features, and other network-related details. This periodic advertising helps in maintaining the mesh network and allows other nodes to be aware of the presence of the connected node.

It's important to refer to the documentation of the specific Bluetooth Mesh stack and example application you are using for precise details on how advertising intervals are configured and what information is included in the advertisements during the connected state. The behavior may vary between different implementations and applications. scratch games

RE: Mesh proxy advertising interval

Hi,

Apologies for the long wait time, I've been out of office and unavailable from Devzone for longer than expected

So here's a couple of thoughts

The behaviour you're describing in your node sounds like a secure network beacon which is sent roughly every 10 seconds from the nodes in the neighborhood (and rarer the more nodes it gets a beacon from). Even if the node is connected over GATT, it still uses the same ADV-bearer for "regular" network traffic. For instance when it receives messages from the connected GATT-unit it will relay that over the regular ADV-bearer

Even if the node is a proxy, it can still be configured to be able to have multiple GATT-connections, and in this case it will advertise itself even if it has been connected to a central at an earlier point in time.

Could you have a look at the regular settings for BLE advertising interval and tweak this to see if this changes anything?

Kind regards,
Andreas

RE: Mesh proxy advertising interval

Hi Andreas,
