I have same issues :

Thingy:91 PCA20035 1.0.0 2019.43

Application and nrf91 were updated via programmer version 3.0.9 . By any means I'm not able to update bridge.

I can select device MCU 0.01 load file and "write" is gray .

Same with Programmer v4.0.1

If you are not using an external programmer i.e. MCUboot, the position of the switch does not matter. If using an external programmer make sure to switch to nRF52 in order to program the connectivity bridge, for modem FW and e.g. Asset Tracker make sure that it is position nRF91.

Please test with latest version of the Programmer app and program the latest version of Connectivity Brigde.

which I am able to find and download

which position do you recommend for the SWD detect switch

nRF91 (left position) or nRF52 (right position)

Please advise...

Also please confirm whether I need to stay with the old Programmer revision v3.9.0 as suggested by @finch earlier

Sorry, I was wrong. This is not described in under Updating the Thingy:91 firmware. You should press and hold SW4 while powering on the Thingy:91, this should put the nRF52 in MCUBoot mode and you can use the Programmer app to program the Connectivity Bridge on the Thingy:91.

Just to verify, are you able to program the latest version of the Connectivity Bridge on the nRF52? This is also described Updating the Thingy:91 firmware. The latest version of Connectivity Bridge is found in our precompiled firmware package, which is available under the Downloads tab on the Thingy:91 product page. This application handles the USB connection on the Thingy:91.

After upgrading back to 4.0.1, I can confirm a regression issue with this programmer version

Will make sure to keep the Programmer at v3.0.9 until the next release...

Ditto. Was able to downgrade the "Programmer" version to v3.0.9

And surprise, surprise, I am now able to program the

<install_path>\nrf\samples\nrf9160\at_client

application.

To be complete, I am going to upgrade back to 4.0.1 and double check the programming failure...

Nop. I did not have the "serial terminal" opened while programming code to the "Thingy".

Did you have a serial terminal open at the same time? If yes, close the serial terminal while flashing code to your thingy.

It is possible to downgrade programmer . Click pull-down menu right to "Open"

When I reported the problem,

I made sure to upgrade nRF Connect for Desktop to the latest v4.2.1

The associated "Programmer" version is v4.0.1
