This is perfectly possible to do with the nRF51 or the nRF52. In addition to the examples in the SDK, I recommend you to have a look at the tutorials section above.

I'm interested in start a project which implies using a nRF51822 beacon as receiver. The project will be as following:

I use a beacon as a transmitter (regular use) in every room of a building;
I need a small size and low energy bluetooth receiver which detects beacon's ID's and forward them on a serial (pins)
I also intend to use a beacon as receiver or other small module low energy from Nordic which can do this job I will study your SDK but any suggestions or advices from experienced users are welcomed. Thanks!

The nRF51822 chip has a receiver, so it can receive. You just need the software that implements it.

In general a beacon is a broadcaster, so it doens't receive anything, but you can have a look at the other examples in our SDK.
