Looking a bit more at the differences between the Serial LTE Modem in NCS v2.4.0 and 2.5.0, it looks like NCS 2.5.0 also enabled HW flow control on UART0.

Does your board support HW flow control? If not, could you try to disable it (line 15 in the overlay file)?

this is the logs from RTT. it seems no problem from this. but just do not have UART string output and can not revice AT command.

Can you check if you get any logs over RTT?

For me, the SLM runs on my old DK with the modifications to the overlay file (when I build for revision 0.7.0).

Hello, the samples in NCS are configured to run on Nordic Development Kits.

If you have a custom board, you will have to write a devicetree overlay file that details how your custom board is different from a standard nRF9160 devkit and provide that to the build system when building your application.

How to write devicetree overlay is documented here: docs.zephyrproject.org/.../howtos.html

Hi, i have comment out Line 58-63, now it can run to the main.c

but it still do not have the UART string output.

Seems the code always run in here and can not run out. this situation can not happen if i use Nordic 91DK.

Could you try to comment out line 58-63 in nrf\applications\serial_lte_modem\boards\nrf9160dk_nrf9160_ns.overlay?

That part enabled an external flash, which you presumably don't have.

I type the 0.7.0 to the revision text box, it can build but can not debug and flash both in my 91 board and nordic DK,

but if i type the 1.1.0 or 1.2.4 is ok in nordic 91DK and can flash in my 91 board, but it just can not run to the main.c in my board.

Could you try to specify the revision as 0.7.0?

As I tried to explain in my previous reply, building for the older revision on a new board is not a problem, but you could get problems if you build for the new revision (which became the default in NCS v2.5.0), but the board is only compatible with the old revision.

this is my build configuration, and my Nordic 91DK edtion is 1.1.0, the same configuration for ncs2.4 and ncs2.5 , it all can run in nordic 91DK, but for my 91 board. just can run ncs2.4, the ncs2.5 can not run in my board.

Hi,

Which board are you building for?

Have you created board files for your custom board, or are you using the board files for the nRF9160 DK?

In NCS v2.5.0 the default board revision for the nrf9160dk_nrf9160 board changed from 0.7.0 to 0.14.0.

The difference between the two board revisions is that the new board revision has an external flash. The external flash is enabled by default in the Serial LTE Modem (SLM) application, so if the driver is not able to talk to the external flash, it will stop the initialization of the system.

If you are using the board files for the DK, could you try to build for revision 0.7.0 instead?
