Please use for instance struct esb_config config = ESB_DEFAULT_CONFIG; to make sure you have some reasonable and controllable values here.

Not looked into it, but I recommend 4 or 5 bytes.

ESB_CRC_16BIT // 2 Bytes

Set through

struct esb_config config;

config.crc = ESB_CRC_16BIT;

err = esb_init(&config);

Funny you should mention the address... it seems like it's not explicitly set in my code using esb_set_address_length . I'm guessing it's missing ? Could this be the culprit ? Is the default length used automatically ? If so , what's that ?

I was not aware it was an engineering sample. Interesting, will look into this. Yes it's the same chip on both sides. Thanks for your efforts Kenneth.

Still can't think of anything, though I can see the chip in question is a engineering sample, though I don't see how that should affect the issue.

It's the same device on both sides of the connection?

I can't really think of anything.

Can you provide the detailed markings you can find on top of the nRF52 chip you have there?
