Hi,

The nRF itself should draw current in the low mA-area, depending on the firmware running on the device.

Could you measure the current consumption used by your custom board and share your results?

Hi Håkon,

Apologies for the delay in response.

I have connected the power adapter which has a capacity higher than my board consumption and I also checked the voltage level on MDO and it is perfect no deep on the voltage line. It is not issue related to power because my other boards are working fine.

Have you checked the current consumption of your custom board? how much current does it draw?

Do you have more than one board?

Yes, Håkon multiple times I turned ON/OFF my custom board supply and It does not work for me.

You should manually power your custom board on/off while the loop is running.

Hi Håkon,

I tried with your suggestion. As per your suggested case, someone tried at least 100 times and got their device recovered. I have put my device ON for 2.5 hours with this script, and the issue is still not resolved in my case.

If the firmware running on the nRF device is continuously resetting (assertion or fault occurring), it can be hard to recover the device.

In that case, you can try to run a simple batch script that runs recover:

While manually removing the power to the custom board.

Could you try this and see if that works?

Yes, I checked the all connections it is proper also my target is generating 3.3V.

This specific board has previously been working as expected, and now it has stopped working. Have you checked the physical connection between the nRF52-DK and your custom board to ensure there's no faulty wiring or similar?

The errors you're seeing indicates that the debugger isn't able to connect over SWD. Have you checked that the voltages match? An external target must be powered with 3.0V, ie. the same voltage as the nRF52-DK is running on.

Result with the "nrfjprog --recover"

Result with the nRF connect Desktop.

Let me know if is there any other way to flash or erase the device.

I personally use the windows application, nRF Connect Desktop -> Programmer -> Has a UI to interact with it to flash/erase etc .

The terminal "nrfjprog --recover" might help the erase

Yes, i am using the nrf52dk_nrf52832.

i will try with the J link_V7.88j. But could you please tell me how to fully erase the chip because i have try with the "nrfjprog --eraseall" and it is showing me the ERROR.

Correct me if I am wrong but,

What do you mean by Jlink devkit, Do you mean the nrf52dk_nrf52832
(https://www.nordicsemi.com/Products/Development-hardware/nrf52-dk)?

I was under the impression that the dev kit can only program others with the same MCU.

So nrf52840 dev-kit can program other nrf52840s.

I did notice - 2023-12-12T08:50:29.330Z WARN Installed JLink version does not match the expected version (JLink_V7.88j)
Could be worth trying to update this,

Also, 2023-12-12T08:50:52.220Z ERROR Failed to reading readback protection status for application core core. Error: [object Object], message: Batch task protection-get failed, [jlink] JLINKARM_DLL_ERROR

It may be worth using nrf connect programmer to fully erase the chip (will erase protected areas)
