Note: I had the problem again today, with nRF Connect for Desktop v5.0.0.

I was able to get it working again after running "nrfutil install device --force".
Without "--force" I got the message "nrfutil-device already installed".

Hi, when I tried to install a new SDK into the previous "Nordic" folder I got an error that access was denied (I didn't change any rights). I got the same error when I tried to remove an already existing SDK.

Therefore, I renamed the "Nordic" folder (later deleted) and created a new empty "Nordic" folder. I was now able to successfully install the current SDK 2.5.0. A build [pristine] of a project currently being worked on also worked without any problems.

Hello, I installed nrfutil and nrfutil install device without an error:

[00:00:01] ###### 100% [Install packages] Install packages

Then I tried again to install the Toolchain Manager in nRF Connect for Desktop (4.3.0). The installation worked today :-)

Your problem looks little different than the one we are investigating. Are you able to install nrfutil (https://www.nordicsemi.com/Products/Development-tools/nRF-Util) and run nrfutil install device without an error?

If not, then I need to take a different investigation path internally with different team.

Hello, thanks for the answer.

The problem was initially as follows:
After starting "nRF Connect for Desktop", a message came up saying that an update was available for "nRF Connect for Desktop" itself. I carried this out.

It then showed that there were also updates for the "Bluetooth Low Energy", "Programmer" and "Toolchain Manager" apps. I was able to update the "Bluetooth Low Energy" and "Programmer" apps without any problems. However, the problem described occurred with the "Toolchain Manager".

As already described, I tried to uninstall and reinstall "nRF Connect for Desktop". But without success :-(

After the reinstallation, I was able to install the "Bluetooth Low Energy" and "Programmer" apps without any problems. Today I installed "Direct Test Mode" and "RSSi Viewer" as a test without any problems. The problem seems to affect only the "Toolchain Manager".

Sorry, I haven't created a tracker entry yet. How and where can I do this?

Just to let you know, we got two other similar errors from other users, the dev team. Just to summarize the issue

The issue was triggered when you were attempting to upgrade the nRF connect for desktop (or was it upgrading the Toolchain manager extension) when this error first appeared?
You tried uninstalling and installing to try fix it but you cannot install it anymore.

Creating an internal issue tracker for this so that we can track the progress by the dev team.

Hi,
I had already completely uninstalled nRF Connect for Desktop and then reinstalled it. After there was no success with 4.3.0, I uninstalled 4.3.0 and then installed 4.2.1.

But the error still exists.

I had already turned off the firewall.
Otherwise I was able to update the Bluetooth Low Energy and Programmer app, so firewall and internet access shouldn't be a problem.

Please try uninstalling the whole nRF Connect for desktop and re-installing it. Also please check if there is any firewall rules that have recently been applied on executables running on your PC.

If the error continues, then I need to contact the tools teams for guidance.
