I am working on a IoT battery power device, whose firmware is written with the Nordic Connect SDK. The device has BLE connectivity and the standard BAS service (UUID: 0x180F), with the standard Battery Level characteristic (UUID

RE: BLE BAS - Which characteristic to use to send Battery Charging State data

Hi tesc,

Thank you for the clarification and for the help. I will move forward with implementing the support Battery Level Status characteristic (UUID: 0x2bed).

The Battery Service implementation in nRF Connect SDK supports only the mandatory Battery Level characteristic (from BAS v1.1) and not the optional (or conditional optional) characteristics. This means if you want to use Battery Level Status you must implement it yourself.

The characteristics are described in depth in the BAS v1.1 specification chapter 3 Service characteristics, and their relationship (some characteristics can be present only if certain other characteristics are present) are described via the "Requirement" column of Table 3.1 on pages 12 and 13, and the explanatory text for C.1, C.2 and C.3 right below the table, on page 13.

Regards,
Terje
