You can find the details of the bootloader update process on this documentation page: https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/sdk_nrf5_v17.1.0/lib_bootloader_dfu_process.html.

Additionally, almost all of the details about the bootloaders can be found in its parent page: https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/sdk_nrf5_v17.1.0/lib_bootloader_modules.html.

For the issue at hand, one likely issue is that the new bootloader has a different start address and/or size compared to the existing one. Could you please check if that is the case?

Besides that, are there no signs/symptoms at all to give a clue what is going on on the device? Can the new Secure Bootloader you are programming produce log?

I think it's also a good idea to try updating the bootloader to a minimally modified copy of the existing bootloader first to familiarize yourself with the process and have some expectations.

Finally, please be informed that due to the ongoing Christmas - New Year holiday season, we are severely understaffed, and there would be delays in responses. Our apologies for the inconveniences.
