The main function of the codec is to handle AD and DA conversion, and if you have an I2S sound source you should be able to connect it directly to the nRF5340 without having to involve the codec at all.

Unless you want to use some other feature of the codec chip for audio processing?

Passing I2S audio through the codec is not one of the tested use cases for the Audio DK, but I will check with the developers if there is a way to enable this.

Is your external I2S device configured in master or slave mode? What is the audio settings?

Hi,

I want to use the codec on the audio DK. I have already configured the software to use the jack input (with AUDIO_SOURCE_I2S config) but I want to input an I2S signal instead of an analog one. I don't know if it is possible and if yes where to connect my external I2S signals ?

Are you planning to use the codec on the audio DK, or you want to connect an external codec through I2S?

To enable I2S on the gateway side you have to use the AUDIO_SOURCE_I2S config as described here.

On the headset side using I2S output should be the default, and no additional configuration is necessary.

Regarding connecting an external codec to the external I2S pins there is some information in this case:
