I am still curious, does it work if I only add CONFIG_LTE_NETWORK_MODE_NBIOT in my prj.conf file?

or do I have to do that in combination with the command line below in my application file?

Hello,

The nRF9160 uses either AT commands directly to control the modem or the modem library. Using the AT commands, you can issue e.g AT%XSYSTEMMODE=0,1,1,0 to connect to NB-IoT with support for GPS. It is also possible to add CONFIG_LTE_NETWORK_MODE to your prj.conf, e.g. CONFIG_LTE_NETWORK_MODE_NBIOT. There is also a fallback CONFIG_LTE_NETWORK_USE_FALLBACK which allows the device to fall back on e.g. NB-IoT if LTE-M is not found within a configured time.
