I am not sure whether it is too big, but I think I would have gone for the Zephyr, if I needed to choose between the two.

Not that I am aware of. But then again, MQTT is not my expertise, as it is not commonly used with the nRF53. You may get a better answer by reaching out to the Zephyr forum directly.

Thanks for the reply, the device driver and communication of the SARA modem are working well now.
I want to use MQTT, and there are two options: (1) use Zephyr native mqtt lib,(2) use the open source Mosquitto mqtt lib. I'm not sure which one is better on nRF5340.

My questions:
(1) Is the functionality of Zephyr native mqtt lib similar to the Mosquitto lib, or just a subset of it? Is Mosquitto too big to be used on nRF5340 net-core?
(2) I found the sample 'MQTT/Publisher' is very good, but it only has sample code for mqtt publishing. Are there some samples for mqtt subscribing and receving?

Ok, in that case, it sounds like you need to look into the datasheet of the ublox SARA R4. I am not familiar with this device. I guess this device uses UART for communication? I believe you need to find some sort of driver for this device, or implement it yourself.

Hi,

I used an LTE modem(ublox SARA R4) and connected to the net-core of nRF5340. It's not MQTT over OpenThread, just normal MQTT over socket.

Are you talking about MQTT over OpenThread? Or what kind of transport layer are you using for MQTT?
