Do you see the same behavior with the SoftDevice Controller instead of the Zephyr controller? If not, then we recommend you use our SoftDevice controller instead as it is the supported controller for NCS and the only controller we use for testing and verification.

Also, in case you didn't know this already, the Zephyr controller is not qualified by anyone and if you want to use the Zephyr controller in your product you will have to go through qualification of the controller on your own. The SoftDevice controller is qualified from our end.

Let me know if changing the controller resolves the behavior you see.

Using zephyr controller.

System A: sdk 2.4 (error have occurred several times)

The sink-node, on which the "Unable to allocate beacon buffer" occurs, subscribes to a group address where data from the sensing nodes are published. The sink-node also occasionally publishes to another group to which the sensing nodes are subscribed. Messages are 8 bytes or less (which I assume is sent as unacked-messages).

System B: sdk 2.5 (error occurred at least once)

The sensing node, on which the "Out of network buffers" occurred, sends 8 bytes unacked unicast messages.

Regards,

Update:

Could you answer the following questions:

Are you using extended avertiser or legacy advertiser?

Are you using the SoftDevice controller or the Zephyr controller?

Are you running with
CONFIG_BT_MESH_V1d1=y
or not?

Are you using acknowledged or unacknowledged messages? Unicast or group addressing?

Another update from the developers
are unable to figure out what has caused these errors and are unable to reproduce the errors.
The developers are unable to reproduce this error. They have tested by sending more than 100k messages with the mentioned 2 second interval over the weekend. No error has occurred yet. Since neither they nor you are able to reproduce the error, it makes it a bit difficult to figure out what the problem actually is. If you have any other details or findings that you may believe is relevant to reproducing the behavior and

The observation you've made is not something the developers have seen before, so we will move the project from initial investigation to a bug report and investigation will continue from there.

As mentioned, please let us know if you have any other findings or details that we can use.
