We are now use NCP for the Border Router as the below screenshot architecture and we use the Raspberry Pi for the Host processor and the nRF52840 for the Co-Processor. We need Host processor can control the nRF52840's hardware peripherals

RE: nRF52840's hardware peripherals can be controlled by the spinel protocol in NCP architecture ?

Hi,

This should be possible in theory, but we do not have any samples, so you must implement it yourself.

You will need to modify both the RCP and the host application. We do not have any guides showing how to do this, but you can check out these similar tickets: RE: Can Openthrea-RCP actively send command to Host (co-processor)? and Selecting nRF52xxx chip for adding BLE to the nRF9160 .

Thank you, we are now using the Thread co-processor sample for RCP. We need the hardware peripherals(like GPIO, ADC, SPI......) of nRF52840(the Thread co-processor) can be controlled by the host through the spinel command. Is this feasible?

RE: nRF52840's hardware peripherals can be controlled by the spinel protocol in NCP architecture ?

Hi,

You can look at the OpenThread POSIX applications for the host.

Please note that the NCP (network co-processor) solution is discontinued in the nRF Connect SDK, and we recommend using RCP (radio co-processor) instead. Our Thread co-processor sample is an RCP.
