&lt;p&gt;Thread does not define its own application layer, so you are free to implement your DFU in your application layer.&lt;br /&gt;You can for example use &lt;a href="https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/latest/nrf/libraries/dfu/dfu_target.html#dfu-target"&gt;DFU Target&lt;/a&gt; or &lt;a href="https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/latest/nrf/libraries/networking/fota_download.html#fota-download"&gt;FOTA Download&lt;/a&gt; for this.&lt;/p&gt;
