&lt;p&gt;It looks like I&amp;#39;m able to program the application, though if I try to program &amp;#39;both&amp;#39; the app and network, I get the following messages&lt;/p&gt;

A third optin, which is perhaps the simplest (but no longer documented in this guide), is to use the Toolchain manager application that is part of &lt;a href="https://www.nordicsemi.com/Products/Development-tools/nRF-Connect-for-Desktop"&gt;nRF Connect for Desktop&lt;/a&gt;.
