Doing a pristine build seems to be working. The full commands I used are:

python buildprog.py -c both -d headset --pristine -b debug -p

python buildprog.py -c both -d gateway --pristine -b debug -p

Thank you! Using the nRF Connect for Desktop, I configured it to v2.6.0, and used the "open bash" to get a command line with which I can build the demos successfully. That's major progress.

It looks like I'm able to program the application, though if I try to program 'both' the app and network, I get the following messages

I see. Both variants should work. A third optin, which is perhaps the simplest (but no longer documented in this guide), is to use the Toolchain manager application that is part of nRF Connect for Desktop. Wiht that, you can install an SDK and toolchain with a single click.

Thanks, those are the instructions I was trying to follow, but there are multiple paths (command line vs. Visual Studio). I tried to follow all of them, but I still get errors.

Hi,

We do not provide an ISO image, but we provide tools that can install the toolchain including all depåendencies for you. There are several options for this and thos are explained in Installing the nRF Connect SDK.
