Okay, now I am going to purchase another audio dk board to implement. Before closing this I would like to know how both audio and peripheral uart works in parallel? Anything is needed to handle from the user code.

I tried with the binary I shared before(merged_domains_BK.hex) and confirmed it works without any issues with my pad(not Redmi).

-. Does the issue happen only on the specific device(Redmi Note 9 pro)? what about with the other devices?

-. Are you testing with the same binary?

Hi Naveen.

the security warning got my attention, I believe it's worth looking into that.

Please look in bt_mgmt.c - is bt_conn_set_security() being called? (it should appear once in that file). In my code it's commented-out.

As a part of deleting the bonding information I followed following steps

Disable scanning on smartphone and advertising on the audio dk
Re-enable scanning on smartphone and advertising on the audio dk

But there is no change in the behavior.

Yes, I didn't try deleting bonding information. I will test and confirm.

Initially I tired with android version 13, the bonding was happening but instantly the board is getting disconnected.

Hi Brian,

In the meanwhile I've modified the code such that the gateway unit streams a fixed tone, therefore it occupies less radio and the iPhone connection is pretty stable.

In the near future the stream will be of a hard-coded data, and I assume your suggestion will be tested then.

Hello Dekel,

It looks like radio 'still' needs to have more margin for ACL link. Then we can modify the performance of LE Audio from stereo to mono. You can add these two lines in the configuration file.

CONFIG_MONO_TO_ALL_RECEIVERS=y

CONFIG_BT_BAP_BROADCAST_SRC_STREAM_COUNT=1

I believe this should work. Would you come back to me after trying this?

sorry for this delay. In the meantime, I've tried on 2 devices with the similar condition, one iPad(iOS17.5.1, nRF Toolbox 5.0.9) and the other, iPhoneX(

16.7.8).

It works on both on my side, but it seems to be worse on your side. I believe this can be mitigated adjusting the related parameters.

Just for your verification, you can lower the streaming quality and see the ACL connection status.

I tried it, but unfortunately I'm not able to connect with my iPhone. I receive the following error (BT_HCI_ERR_CONN_TIMEOUT):

I'm using iOS 17.5.1 and tried with both nRF Connect for Mobile (v2.7.6) and nRF Toolbox (v5.0.9).

I'll mention that the Android connection still works, which is great 🙂

I am satisfied, and it absolutely can be lowered (more than 'slightly'), since audio quality may be set to minimum in our project.

It would be a little complicated, but it's very promising. However, replacing with legacy ADV might connect iOS devices, but that won't completely fix this issue because this comes from timing-activities in the end. Are you satisfied with the current audio quality? Also, even slightly lower quality than this would be acceptable? If yes, that will bring more stable ACL link.

Interestingly, when trying to connect with another smartphone, running Android 12, everything works well using your original code! That's awesome. I'm able to communicate through nRF Toolbox app and even send data from the device back to the smartphone (with a small code modification).

Therefore, I assume that's something about the smartphone I've been using. I'll try with a few more devices to get better statistics.

It looks like QoS issue. You should find the optimized parameters tweaking them for your device. This information should be useful to figure out proper number of the parameters.

For iOS, if Apple doesn't change anything about this issue, that could be an alternatives. For Android, as I said above, this would be more of QoS timing issue rather than ADV-EXT, but it's worth a shot.
