I have a question about the specification of Bluetooth Mesh which is not clear for me.
We have a Bluetooth mesh network composed of light who are controlled by a smartphone (through mesh proxy).

The smartphone can control the state

RE: [BLE MESH] Can a device have 1 element compose of 1 Server model & 1 client model at the same time

Hi Florent,

I take it your phone is interacting with the Mesh network via the Proxy feature.

Solutions for lightning products are designed quite thoroughly in the Bluetooth Mesh specifications. I recommend you go over the Mesh Models Technical Overview first, and then the Mesh Model v1.0.1 specification.

You will find details on how a duplex communication between them is possible. As long as the phone remains connected to the Mesh network via a Proxy Node, it should be able to receive status change publication from the server on the lights using subscription, without polling.
