As I said before I already ordered a new one, but I just bought the defective one as “new old stock” about 6 months ago, and since the board looks pristine I’m going to assume it was not used before I acquired it. Which brings us back to my earlier question… Can I send it to Nordic for further analysis?

Hi,

That board should still work, but it is also a really old board, so it might just have seen enough battles for it to eventually be worn out so to say (e.g. EOS damage and/or repeated handling) so I suggest to get a new one.

Hi Kenneth,

Yes, I tried all of the troubleshooting suggestions made here and elsewhere. (My board’s switches and jumpers remained unaltered from the factory state until after it failed.)

It seems the Segger half of the board has failed since the nrf52840 is still running our firmware, It is just infuriating that the failure has halted all progress.

FYI, I ordered a new DK from DigiKey, so we should be able to resume testing in a few days,

I can send you the failed board for further analysis.

Hello,

That is unfortunate, we don't see many of these issues. Do you have a second nRF52840-DK you can use for comparison? Also in addition to the mentioned debug steps, you can also just double check that all switches are in the same configuration as previously.

Our nRF52840DK was working fine yesterday, but when I powered it up today, I can tell it is still running the firmware I flashed yesterday, but LED5 does not come on and none of our computers can detect the device. (I have tried 3 usb cables, all of which work with our nRF52832DK.). This is very frustrating and honestly I'm beginning to wonder if we made a mistake by selecting Nordic SOCs.

I know the LED5 should be continuously on but the thing is it is not even turning on.

I checked the Link you shared, So I can assure you that it is not a driver problem, as I am working with other nRF boards and they are working fine with my Laptop.

LED5 should not be blinking if it works, it should be ON continously.

Can it be a missing driver problem? Please check out first answer here:

Thanks For replying.

According to your suggestion I grounded VIO_REF with on P20 once and after that when I measure the voltage between Vdd nRF with ground it is showing 3.01V but still the LED5 is not blinking nor the board is detected by my Laptop.

Hi,

Maybe the board have been damaged some way, maybe an ESD/ESO event.

Can you just do some "investigation" around the Power switch on the DK? Maybe short-circuit it, just to check it may be somewhat broken?

Can you try to ground VIO_REF on P20 to see if that make any difference?
