Do you see it now in Device Manager? Should looks similar to this:

does it report itself as "Thingy 53: Zigbee Weather Station" ?

Have you tried different serial terminals ? e.g. PuTTy, Termite, etc.

Hi, problem is specific to Weather Station sample. If I build and flash Bluetooth peripheral LBS sample it works well. I can connect Thingy with my mobile phone and start communication, "LED on Thingy works.

Are you able to get a log via nRF Serial Termianl with other samples?

Is the issue only happened with the Zigbee Weather Station demo?

Dear Amanda,

This is nonsense! I don't have J-Link programmer. Thingy is connected over USB directly. As you can see on your own screenshot you also don't have any J-Link device in the Device Manager.

When I connect Thingy to the computer new USB Serial Device appears. I'm able to connect to it when in DFU mode. But in normal mode with Weather Station flashed serial port is unresponsive.

Make sure the PC can detect the USB serial port and only the nRF Serial Terminal connects to the same port.

Could you remove the JLink_V7.96g and install JLink_V7.94e? During installation, select "Install legacy USB Driver for J-Link" and "Update existing installation."

Installed J-Link and now I have warning message in Serial Terminal "Installed JLink version does not match the expected version (JLink_V7.94e)". Terminal still can't connect to Thingy with Weather Station flashed:

It seems that factory reset doesn't do anything good. Terminal after Thingy reset can't enumerate devices at all:

Error: Failed to enumerate devices Caused by: Timeout

Error: Failed with exit code 1.

If I power cycle Thingy, I can see it in Terminal as unknown device again and can't connect to it.

So I flashed your zip again (now with new J-Link). But no change, still doesn't work.

Strange thing is that sometimes I can see "Thingy 53: Zigbee Weather Station" as device name in Terminal (not unknown device), but seems like it freeze in a few seconds after power cycle and I can't connect to it.

Hi,

Something you can check:

*Make sure the JLink USB driver is installed.

Begin by downloading JLink from this link: https://www.segger.com/downloads/jlink/

During installation, select "Install legacy USB Driver for J-Link" and "Update existing installation."

* Ensure the Serial Terminal connects to the correct port.

* Press the Button (SW3) of Thingy53 for five seconds to initiate the factory reset of the device.

For any reason the zipped sample works now. I flashed it and left it on the desk. I then continued working on another Zigbee project and suddenly after about 20 minutes, the thingy53 started to glow blue and could be integrated into my network. Is this behavior right?

Hi,

I've just setup dev tools on different Windows 11 computer and used different USB cable (10 cm USB-C to USB-C). Same result. Can't connect Serial Terminal, can't join Zigbee network.

Toolchain, SDK and West workspace 2.6.1, Programmer 4.3.0, Serial Terminal 1.4.0. Thingy is version 1.1.0 (2023.50).

Hey together,
I have the same issues with your zipped file and the sample project, too.
The matter weather station sample works fine and the thingy boots with a blinking blue LED, but I cant get the Zigbee sample to work.
I'm using a M2 Macbook Air, 2.6.1 NCS and Programmer v4.3.0

This sounds strange. The image can work without issue on my side. Could you try to restart the PC/use another USB cable or port? Also, ensure that the port of Thingy53 is not occupied by other tools.

With your image it's same as with my own images. Can see Weather station device in Serial Terminal but can't connect to port. Serial Terminal also has problem enumerating connected devices when Thingy is connected (with Weather station image flashed) - sometimes timeout, sometimes see devices after about 30 s. When working with nRF52840 dongle no problems at all - can connect Serial Terminal, start Zigbee shell, all works.

Hi,

Today I've uninstalled all toolchains and SDKs. Then installed toolchain and SDK 2.6.1. I can see that I'm using toolchain 2.6.1 on west workspace 2.6.1. So I set build configuration exactly as on your image.

Device visible in serial terminal, but can't connect (Failed to connect to port). Can't connect it to any Zigbee (my home network or Zigbee shell).

I hope that I'm doing whole process right. I build it in Visual Studio Code (nRF connect addon) and after that write dfu_application.zip using nRF Programmer in DFU mode.

Please try to update SDK via ToolChain Manager. It should fix the issue.

Without modification of the Zigbee Weather Station application, you could build with -DCONFIG_ZIGBEE_CHANNEL_SELECTION_MODE_MULTI=y as

Please also make sure the toolchains and SDK versions are correct, and the overlay file is set as the above figure.

Hi,

I've nRF52840 dongle available so I flashed Zigbee shell there. Thingy was able to connect with Zigbee shell. So it seems that this works.

I've probably found problem why Thingy isn't able to connect with my home Zigbee coordinator (ZigStar Stick v4) - default Weather station sample is configured with CONFIG_ZIGBEE_CHANNEL_SELECTION_MODE_SINGLE but my coordinator doesn't work on channel 16. So I rebuild with CONFIG_ZIGBEE_CHANNEL_SELECTION_MODE_MULTI.

But as I wrote before, I've problems with my own builds :-(

1) Found problem in sample source code. I had to comment line 245 in main.c ir order to be able to build the sample. Otherwise build fails with message: zigbee_weather_station/src/main.c:245: undefined reference to `user_input_indicate'

2) After flashing, serial console is not available anymore (flashed with prj.conf).

3) Thingy doesn't connect to Zigbee shell coordinator anymore.

Don't know why there are so many problems with this sample. I'm able to build Zigbee Shell for nRF52840 dongle and flash it on my computer - works without any problem (including serial console). But I have no luck with Weather station sample and Thingy 53.

Currently I'm on SDK 2.6.1.

How do you build with the prj.conf? See Zigbee weather station build types

Hi Amanda,

Today I've tested my own build (SDK 2.6.0) and also your build.

After flashing my build I can see my device identified as Weather Station but not possible to connect serial console, LED doesn't work and device isn't visible in Zigbee network (join permited for all new devices).

Using you build serial console works and it seems that Thingy sensors measure temperature, pressure and humidity. But I can't connect Thingy to my Zigbee network. All new devices permited.

Thingy debug log: "zigbee_app_utils: Network steering was not successful (status: -1)".

Hi, problem is that after flashing Zigbee version, device is not visible in nRF Connect Serial Terminal or in device manager. I have to start it in MCUboot to see it again. It simply doesn't boot with Zigbee Weather station firmware.
