In this case, I recommend the "If it's not broken don't fix it" approach: That you do not update the MDK or GCC.

thank you very much for your fast answer. We only want to keep everything up to date, so no, there is no specific reason to use the newer mdk.

We have tested the nRF5 SDk v1.17.0 with a version of the MDK and can not guarantee compatibility with newer versions of the MDK than that.

If you want a newer version of our software, use the nRF Connect SDK. See the nRF Connect SDK and nRF5 SDK statement.

Are there any specific reasons why you want to update the MDK?
