here is the answer from our GNSS team:

The DevAcademy lesson information is incorrect. GNSS priority mode can only be enabled when GNSS is running, otherwise nrf_modem_gnss_prio_mode_enable() will return an error (-NRF_EINVAL).

If the customer can not use eDRX or PSM, then it’s easiest to always enable GNSS priority mode right after GNSS has been started. They can also implement the logic described in the GNSS API documentation, but may lead to longer time to fix in some cases.

The reason why eDRX or PSM are recommended over GNSS priority mode is that with GNSS priority mode, it’s possible for example to miss a paging from the network when GNSS is blocking LTE. That said, if eDRX or PSM is not an option, GNSS priority mode is the way to go.

Based on this, the DevAcademy lesson is already fixed and will be published ASAP.
