&lt;p&gt;First off this will depend on what measuring equipment you have available and which version of the development kit (I am assuming that is what you are using) you are using. The &lt;a href="https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/tutorials/27/"&gt;introduction to current measurement&lt;/a&gt; describes this well. Which version of the SoftDevice you are using will also matter.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I&amp;#39;ve experienced something very much like what you are describing, please see my somewhat dated &lt;a href="https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/question/42922/nrf52832-current-consumption/#43759"&gt;answer here&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
