&lt;p&gt;MCUboot won&amp;#39;t support booting from an SD card, and I think this is because MCUboot expects a firmware image inside the flash memory, or, I would say, MCUboot is not designed to fetch and execute the firmware image from an SD card. See the &lt;a href="https://docs.nordicsemi.com/bundle/ncs-latest/page/mcuboot/design.html#limitations"&gt;limitation&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;inside the bootloader section.&lt;/p&gt;
