I am using EVB of RAYTAC MDBT50Q-DB (nrf52840 module) for power consumption testing,
I'm running a zephyr application on it, to debug power consumption issues, using nrf52840dk device tree...
I noticed that once I set REGOUT with different values

RE: NRF52840 module power consumption changes with different vref values

Yes that was the issue.
The problem should be the input voltage of VDDH. The voltage difference between VDDH and VDD must be at least 0.3V.

Is VDDH 3.3V or greater?

If not, there will be issues, as per the description here: https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/ps_nrf52840/power.html?cp=5_0_0_4_2_0_0#unique_809995893

When you say nothing is connected, does this also mean the UART? TXD is pulled to VDD, which can draw excessive current.

Kind regards,

Sorry, I'm not quite sure I follow. Do you mean that there's nothing connected to your board, and you still get a higher consumption?

What else do you have connected other than I2C? Have you tried using zephyr/samples/basic/blinky (with CONFIG_SERIAL=n) to see if this also has the same current consumption problem?

Is there anything connected to the GPIOs, for instance over I2C or similar?

If you connect voltage nets that differ, you will leak current through those nets.
