Happy to help!

You can test the latest/main (nRF Connect SDK v2.6.99) of nRF Connect SDK if you want to fully test the new hardware model 2, but please note that the latest/main is where new features are introduced and tested, and may cause some issues.

As you are working on a release candidate of the nRF Connect SDK v2.7.0, there might be some changes that have not been introduced yet. In the final version of the NCS v2.7.0 tag, everything will be included and updated.

The whole SDK should be updated to the new Hardware Model 2, introduced with Zephyr 3.6.0. See board support in the nRF Connect SDK for more information. There is also a board porting guide in the Zephyr repository providing much more information on this change.

So the board folder on assets tracker application need to be updated to the new format? This application is a part of the SDK itself, do you plan to update it on the repo?

Yes, the naming convention has been changed from nRF Connect SDK v2.7.0. Please see release notes for latest version. The Thingy:91 is now thingy91/nrf9160/ns
