There was a interoperability problem, which was addressed with this specific commit:

No, you will have to use a station sample, such as samples/wifi/shell, as this requires wpa supplicant.

You can use the shell sample, and also add zperf (iperf2 compatible) for throughput testing:

For RF PHY evaluation, you can use the samples/wifi/radio_test.

PS: v2.4.x is an older version. I would recommend that you use a newer version of NCS, for instance v2.6.1.
