Hi Vidar,

I installed a previous version of the nRF Connect extension through the UI.

All works fine with the v2024.7.18 (pre-release). If I encounter any issues, I'll rollback to v2024.3.25.

Happy to help. Regarding the rollback of the extension, I found an option to do it through the UI without having to manually download the old installer:

Unfortunately, it appears that VS Code lacks the feature to allow individual update settings for extensions. The update modes can only be applied to all extensions globally.

Thank you for the very quick response. It's much appreciated.

I switched to the pre-release version of the extension works for SDK v2.70. However, in the background VS Code still updated the extension and on restarting VS Code attempted to load the latest extension. VS Code then failed to launch successfully.

There are only two options for the extension, "Update" and "Auto Update", with "Update" being the default.

To prevent the extension update, I ended up setting Preferences > Settings > Update: Mode and Extensions: Auto Update to "none". Unfortunately this applies all extensions. It would be good to have a "Disable Update" option for a specific extension, i.e. nRF Connect for VS Code.

Above works for the latest v2024.7.18 (pre-release) and the earlier v2024.3.25. Thank you.

SDK v2.7.0 requires switching to the pre-release version of the extension. From the SDK release notes:

If you want to roll back to a previous release, you can download the installer for the extension at https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=nordic-semiconductor.nrf-connect, then install it manually (see Install from a VSIX).
