&lt;p&gt;What version of NCS are you working with? EXTRA_ZEPHYR_MODULES has replaced ZEPHYR_EXTRA_MODULES since&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://docs.zephyrproject.org/latest/releases/release-notes-3.4.html#build-system-and-infrastructure"&gt;Zephyr 3.4.0&lt;/a&gt;. It is still a little odd that ZEPHYR_EXTRA_MODULES still works and affect MCUboot.&lt;/p&gt;
