Hi,

The following are several samples that demonstrate how to perform Firmware Over-the-Air (FOTA) updates using HTTP.

For communication with an external modem via UART, the LwM2M client sample supports UART2 connection on the nRF9160 SiP to onboard an nRF52840 SiP with or without MCUboot recovery mode. The nRF9160 SiP needs to enable UART2 on the devicetree using the following configuration files and recovery mode overlay files: overlay-mcumgr_client.conf and overlay-mcumgr_reset.conf. Configuration for external FOTA.

Hi Amanda

If i wanted to to use an external modem and communicate via UART to that chip, how would i approach performing FOTA on the original chip if i were to use HTTP. Is there a sample that can help me? is there a better way to approach this?

Hi,

Since there is no AT command set available for the NET subsystem, the communication must be developed in your application. You can have a look at the Nordic Dev Academy for how to implement uart in your application.
