Again, I think this FIRA platform question is better asked to Qorvo. If they don't provide an nRF Connect SDK there isn't a good way to "migrate" an nRF5 SDK project to the nRF Connect SDK, but staying in the nRF5 SDK shouldn't be an issue.

The configs in the nRF5 SDK are generally set in the SDK configuration header file. More on that here: https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/sdk_nrf5_v17.1.0/sdk_config.html

For the use case you describe, the LE Secure Connections Multirole example project might be a good reference point for development.

Best regards,

the fira platform qorvo supplies is built on the now legacy sdk 17.1.0 and the segger build system.

is there any mechanism to migrate that to the newer visual studio style?

Secondly if I have to use the legacy sdk is there any doc on how to configure it? comments say to use the config tool off the context menu. but I don't see that

I need to add ble and bluetooth native for selective builds

the case device would need bt native w pairing to lock to the phone and transfer data in both directions and ble central to connect (one build)

to the end device ble peripheral to sync fira operations. (other build)

the current build uses usb serial to take commands from the host and send data back on both devices, usb only

RE: we have a solution using UWB from Qorvo using the Nordic 52833.. however

Thank you for explaining, I think we're on the same page now. You basically just want one more connection from the nRF52 side, right. I'm not familiar with UCI or the UWB solution, but I imagine that managing one more BLE connection should be possible here as long as it's not doing big data transfers as well.

I'm not sure what tools and performance measurements you're looking for here, but you can refer to the Zephyr documentation on connection management to see how multiple BLE connections should be handled, and possible the Throughput sample to do some testing on what numbers you can achieve with multiple connections in your use case.

I see that both SOC's I use have a Nordic 52833/40 as the host processor for the solution

DW3001C which runs the 52833 (built before the 840 was released)

and the Murata 2AB which runs the 52840

I didn't mean the nrf chips DO the UWB signals.. they run the UWB control APP.. fira/UCI in my case.

Qorvo/Murata do/choose not to answer my question about adding another/changing the app.

in both cases I want to replace the USB/serial port component of the existing fira UCI app with Bluetooth transport.

the 833 will be very limited output

the 840 will be the brunt of the work.

Håkon is out of office, so I've been assigned this case in his stead.

I'm afraid this will be out of our hands, as UWB is not something done on the nRF52833 inherently. I believe Qorvo only uses the nRF52833 for Bluetooth connection/pairing to handle the data part of setting up UWB. All firmware related to UWB will be done by Qorvo/Apple in this case, and you should refer to their support channels for help with this issue. Let me know if I'm misunderstanding anything and please explain what assistance you require from Nordic on this.

```text
connect,
start ranging(maybe with specific device) ,
       something does the processing(ndf,fira...), callback for data and status
       callback_handler
             with data/status, send to remote
stop ranging
```

I am thinking near field for the transport.. as there may be multiple users of the device in the same room and BT has a long range, NFC can't be confused on who the remote..

but we'd have to add a nfc antenna too..

[/quote]

I am mainly familiar with what the Nordic provides, so I can't really comment on how much processing power is left on a qorvo 52833/40 that runs FIRA ranging.

If had questions on how to do this however, I might be of help.

If I am understanding you correctly you just want to send the ranging data. So if you are refering to the ndt sample, that wouldn't be comparable processing wise, as that is also calculating the range itself.
