I'm currently working on getting LTE to work on our custom card, featuring an nRF9161 and an MFF2 eSIM (without PIN), but I can't seem to initialize our eSIM. I have flashed the latest version of the modem firmware available ( mfw_nrf91x1_2.0.1

RE: eSIM UICC initialization failed on custom board

Mike, I hope you have followed these steps for writing and verifying the IMEI

See my response in this thread here:
https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/f/nordic-q-a/112106/unable-to-write-imei-using-imeiwrite-to-nrf9161

Make sure that after writing you are getting the IMEI number that you wrote to the nRF9161 else your write did not work as expected.
Quick and easy way to test is use LTE monitor on the old version of nRF Connect APP and this will simplify your test workflow.

How to do that is here
https://docs.conexiotech.com/master/nrf-connect-lte-link-monitor

All the best...
